WE DO THE MASHED POTATO AND THE FUNKY CHICKEN

Bully Original Soundtrack

Posted over 2 years ago
Hey all of you with emusic accounts. I just found a free album they're offering up. It's a soundtrack that Shawn Lee did for Rockstar Games video game Bully. You may remember the posts I did for his albums "Hit the Hits":http://mog.com/fistula_spume/blog_post/78764 and "Voices and Choices":http://mog.com/fistula_spume/blog_post/78764. This album has 26 tracks and most are around a minute to two minutes long. I have to wonder what this sounds like in gameplay. I'll probably never get to play it but it's not bad as far as a free soundtrack goes. The music is all over the genre spectrum. You've got funk, breakbeat, soul, rockabilly, and various other styles. There's a bunch of tracks that scream Lalo Schifrin and Henry Mancini to me. Not a bad little album. If you ran out of downloads for the month and need a fix this isn't half bad. I feel like a Shawn Lee pusher but I've yet to be disappointed by him so far.

  4. contrabandwidth says I've wanted to check this game out, sort of a GTA for the elementary school set. Your working your way up to be the school bully through various mischievous deeds. Great little bit of role playing. Tracks sound pretty rocking too!

  5. fistula spume says No problem Flux. Contra I remember there being some controversy over the game when it came out. It sounds fun though from what I've seen. I think playing with a Shawn Lee soundtrack would turn this game up to 11. Now if I only owned a PS2. The wiki on the game says that this won an award from Gamestop for best video game soundtrack.

  6. contrabandwidth says Yeah no doubt the controversy is from people who never played it - as is usually the case. I'm sure you could pick up some PS2 games and console cheap now. I love video games, but have so little time for them right now. Some day - perhaps when "Spore" comes out (soundtrack by Brian Eno). As, to dream...

  7. fistula spume says I never have time to play games anymore either. Also, my wife isn't fond of them. If Spore does ever come out I might have to buy a Wii. It looks so promising. I think your right about the controversy around this game.

  8. contrabandwidth says Nothing irks me more than a politician (ahem...Hillary) getting up on a soap box about a "Hot Coffee" hack or whatever and just talking about games corrupting youth. People need to read "Everything Bad is Good For You".

  9. fistula spume says I love me a good soap box. Hey that book looks pretty good. I might have to get a copy. Thanks for the tip dude.

  10. contrabandwidth says speaking of which I'm thinking of doing a not so music related post of all these good books I've checked out from the library that I love, but have no time to finish right now, that would make great gifts for people. Kind of a "I saw this book, and perhaps you'll have more time for it than I do" Christmas wish list type of thing. I've got an awesome library that gets me all sorts of books I request. I feel it's the least I can do for the authors and make people aware that they exist.

  11. fistula spume says That would be cool. I'm in the middle of a book right now that I can't finish cause I've dedicated myself to finishing my newest picture. My wife goes through one to two a week. I'm more of a non-fiction reader in general. I do like the occasional sci-fi book. Post away.
    Permalink posted 11/26/2007
  12. contrabandwidth says Yeah, I'm more non-fiction too, but I'll read anything that meets my wide spectrum of interests. I do like the occasional fiction novel though.

  16. I am says Yeah, once in a while I will read HTML code that has been rendered graphically, and on occasion I have been known to peruse volumes that are comprised of a dark liquid ejected for protection by most cephalopods which has been stamped on a material made of cellulose pulp and polymers. I would consider that non fiction, of course.

  20. fistula spume says Someone posted a little while ago a video for Video Games Live. That was pretty cool. Fellow Mogger Milkshake is into a lot of video game soundtracks. Seems like he posted some of ICO which looks and sounds like a totally cool game. Good times.

  26. fistula spume says I love the smell of octopi in the morning. I think I've always known this about you I am. Even if it wasn't overt. indiepixie my demon is carpal tunnel syndrome. The eyes seem to be okay for now. Now the brain went years ago.

  34. FastRMacR says Thanks for the post, fistula! Easily a terabyte of data (music/movies) on a home network HDMI into a 50 plasma. Media is only my own save for the HD stuff/events. On the other side of the room is my wife's favorite from my collection - a 1980 Williams Defender. Bring over some of that 'change' and we'll queue up some more of these way-good jams for the arcade. ;-) Perhaps quaff Guinness and a shoot darts? Imbibe Jameson and read Joyce? Polipi Veraci All'aglio?

  35. ciphermedia says My tv is perfect - the tuner is stuffed, so it doesn't pick up any channels - but I can still play dvds on it. Means I spend a lot of time on the net, but that's fine by me. If I need to catch some late breaking news, i just log on. Loving these tracks, and loving that they're freebies! Which is good, cos emusic ripped me off about 10 tracks this month (for about the 3rd time!). You ever tried to get a response from a real live person there?? It's been about two and a half weeks so far, and i just automated email responses. Very dull. Thanks for the heads up fistie.

  36. fistula spume says FastRMacR I'm coming to your house. Sounds like a way awesome set up. I will take you up on that guinness and darts. Gotta stay away from the Jameson. Cipher that's happened to me twice. I hate that. I read online from other mad people that if you don't use your monthly downloads that they just delete them. Totally sucks. I tried to get a person once but I gave up. Now I just religiously stay on top of it like a credit card bill.
