WHERE MUSIC LISTENS TO YOU

Bikes Blues and BBQ

Posted over 2 years ago
Well it's here again. My town of Fayetteville has been turned upside down by "Bikes Blues and BBQ":http://www.bikesbluesandbbq.org/. It's an event that brings about 300,000 bikers to my town of 65,000 people. It's all about a mile and a half away from my house and I can hear the thunder from here. For the "lame-o music line up":http://www.bikesbluesandbbq.org/music.html we have ZZ Top, Chubby Carrier and the Bayou Swamp Band, and many more. Personally I'm wanting to go get some world class BBQ but I could do without all of the bikers. There are some super freaks out there right now. It's fun for people watching and not much else. Last year there was a huge movie style bar fight. Wonder what this year will bring. To mark this glorius and grocery store blocking occasion I'm posting some of my favorite bike tracks. Enjoy.

  6. fistula spume says It's kind of cool. I think I haven't liked it cause for the last 3 years it fell right on my birthday and totally stole the show. You couldn't ask for better weather. I gotta go to the store soon and I'm worried about the access. I haven't shaved or done anything with my hair so I think I shall blend in. Unfortunately I don't have any leather chaps, vest, or skull cap to wear. TV's Jesse James is going to be there but no word on Sandra Bullock.

  9. fistula spume says Well that Zydeco dude might be alright and ZZ Top are classic but the rest of it is going to be tons of boring blues rock bands that local 50 year olds in this town can't seem to get enough of. I think it would be more fun if they did Skateboards, Ska, and Sushi.

  10. fistula spume says You know Mike yesterday at work I saw a bike that was like a goldwing with a huge storage extension but it was painted and shaped to look like the American flag waiving. That was kind of cool looking.

  12. fistula spume says Hey that was cool Bartleby. I've never seen the video before. My mom and stepdad are bike people. My brother and his wife too. I just can't seem to get so worked up about it. I heard the craziest sound outside ever when I went to the grocery by the festivities. I thought maybe someone was blaring a synthesizer but I think it was someone revving up a fancy sport bike. It was unreal.

  13. Rawkkiddoh says come on fistula you have to head down and check out zz top. It would be worth it just to see the show, and how the crowd enjoys the music. Bring a camera and take some photos of the best dancers, I am sure it would be worth it.

  16. jenny says There's a bike week in Loudon, NH, too....always a good time not to be female. There were some funny stories about Black Rebel Motorcycle Club getting threatened by actual motorcycle clubs for using their name...maybe why they mostly use BRMC now. Has someone mentioned "Born to be Wild Yet"? I know it's a cliche, but such a good cliche.

  17. doombilly says "Skateboards, Ska, and Sushi." Now that would be worth it. There is actually a Blues Festival in downtown Rock Hill SC this weekend. And there is a big bike thing in Myrtle Beach every summer. All those organ donors riding around w/o helmets. I'm sorry they have the freedom to be so retarded.

  19. soulrocket says i understand your mixing feelings for the grease community, man. we have several euro-meetings here but they stay out of the city limits, i guess the police would find hard to deal with such a huge amount of people.

  21. fistula spume says Rawkkiddo I would maybe have gone to ZZ Top just for the hell of it but it was about $40 a ticket and I don't really want to spend that for them. I almost went down but all of the bars were charging a $10 cover and it's standing room only on the street. Girlcrawl glad you liked the tracks. Jenny I'm surprised I didn't even think of Born To Be Wild. I would also think it be scary for girls down there. I'm right with you doombilly. Tons of them didn't have helmets. I did see a huge dude with only a bandana on and his little daughter was riding behind him (or bitch as they say) with a helmet on. Anna if only I could have. It's almost over now though. They will hang around for a week or so. I have to wonder if any of these people have jobs. Or maybe they're all secretly millionaires. Soulrocket they do pump up the police presence but I've heard that it's not the bikers that are the problem. It's the massive horde of drunken people that can create a lot of the chaos. Steve it does make for some really excellent people watching.

  22. Rawkkiddoh says then I would have been people watching as well, its free and more fun
