Café Après-midi Part 4

Posted over 4 years ago
Yet another Café Après-midi post. I'm having fun so posting these tracks. I might finish out the week with these. Here's a pretty sweet song by "Gal Costa":http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gal_Costa. I'm assuming she's performing this track with Caetano Veloso.

  1. fistula spume says I can't figure out what album this "Milton Nascimento":http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Milton_Nascimento track is from. The only track I can find with this name from this series is off of the Marcos Valle overview. I read a review of Marcos's album that's also titled _Viola Enluarada_ and it says that a young Milton Nascimento is featured. Who knows. I like this song. ~oN4HcYW4mNr.mp3~

  2. fistula spume says "The Gimmicks":http://www.gimmicks.se/default.php were a samba/bossa nova group from Sweden that was formed in 1968. They were inspired by Sergio Mendes, toured all around the world, turned down a record contract offered by Herb Alpert for A&M Reocrds, and performed at the wedding of King Carl Gustav and Queen Silvia in 1974. They were supposed to put out a new album last year after many years of silence. Much of their back catalog is available from Universal. ~WpilLc9MjNe.mp3~

  3. fistula spume says I can't find much info about this group. They seem to have been a very political group in Brazil during the 60's. They split up and some of their members formed Vox Populi. Graçinha Leporace who sang with the group also moved to Vox Populi and later married Sergio Mendes. Don't know that much else about them. Love this track though. I like to imagine that I'm in the room when they were recording this song. ~j3OJb3Q4DOe.mp3~

  5. fistula spume says Amazon has them sometimes. Dusted Groove carries some. They're on Gemm.com sometimes too. The new ones seem to be about $20 or more. The old ones are usually listed around $40 to $80. I wish Sony Japan would release them stateside. I totally think there's a market for them here.
