I dreamed that I was friends with the members of Animal Collective. Strangely, we did normal things together like take walks and go to casual dining facilities. No animal masks or other freaky activities...

I'll bet your dream had a killa soundtrack!

casual dining facility? You mean like an Applebee's or Chili's? Dining with the Animal Collective in an Applebee's would be strange enough.

I am jealous. Still, cool bands never show up in my dreams. Though if bands did show up in my dreams, it would look like Cafe Iota in Arlington - the stage is lit by about two dozen strings of holiday lights.

Hey! Saw that you like the Boy Least Likely To and I thought that was groovy. I've also been to Richmond VA once, lol. Not a bad place! Ohio sucks tho. Hehe. Take care and catch ya around!

My roommate listens to the radio a lot...in the shower, in her room....AND she was delighted to get the music channels in our cable package. The first few days I thought I could handle it, nostalgia for the days I listened to overproduced, hook-laden music that everyone has heard of it briefly returned. After 3 days of hearing the same song play as she took a shower, I was ready to tear my hair out. I just can't go back to insipid song-writing AND insipid melodies, although I will admit that at least 20% of my preferred music now succumbs to those evils some of the time. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the Rhapsody radio feature that comes with Comcast Intnet has "Indie Now" and "Indie Rock" stations. They have fairly typical songs, but I like hearing a mix of familiar songs that I can still enjoy. The line-up is somewhat repetitive but I like to play it when I'm drifting in and out of the room because it doesn't require the committment listening to a whole, good album does.

So weird to see indie rock (a genre, not just a concept) get canonized. What is the typical music? Is it mostly the groups that have by now been signed to the majors? Modest Mouse, Death Cab? Or have we got some Pavement and YLT?

If you live in the Museum District, you should be able to pick up WRIR on 97.3 FM. Late Tuesday (9-11pm) is a good show of underground rock. Wednesday and Thursdays during the week are good as well. Oh, and my show's on Saturdays from 1-3pm. We're still broadcasting in mono, so you may have to manually tune into us on your radio - the scan feature doesn't always pick us up.

Putting aside the shameless plug for the station where I volunteer, you probably can pick up WDCE 90.1 FM from U of R as well.

i'm still here, i'm still listening to music (the 3 records i own: in the aeroplane over the sea, picaresque, and gimme fiction), but i am not making any posts because i have messed up my wrists and arms...mostly from too much computering, but also from gripping my 1994 ford tempo's steering wheel back and forth between williamsburg, fairfax, and richmond doing moving type things . one of the songs on the mixtape i play in the car now is the stills' lola stars and stripes, and i would like to use my limited typing ability to tell you that it is a really good car song . it's all right on the computer, but there's just something about it that makes me press down on the accelerator and focus on the hair flying back from my face (yes, even on the really hot days because the a/c makes my car go a maximum speed of 20mph)

In my family, they call what you have 2-65 airconditioning - two windows down at 65 miles an hour.

My driving jam on the way to work was Par& Labors latest - needless to say, I was not a happy camper. The last couple of days, I've been listening to Notwist's Neon Golden and I'm much more mellow. The proper musical accompanyment to driving is essential for happy motoring and general highway safety.
