A few days ago, I put together my Desert Island Discs widget -- the 10 albums I'd take with me to a desert island. I'm not sure I got it exactly right, but it's close enough.Today, I couldn't resist making a widget called Another Shipment of Desert Island Discs -- what I'd take if I could take 10 more albums. Here's the dilemma: I have three artists who are represented on both lists. There's Did...

So in my list of Top Songs This Month, as I write this, "MMMBop" by Hanson is at number five. What? Now, admittedly, I do have "MMMBop" in my iTunes Library. And I've listened to it once in this month (when I was deliberately listening to songs that I hadn't listened to all that much lately). But number five? The only thing I can think is that when my daughter was having her sleepover, and while I

Nine years ago, while working on my first "100 goals in life" list, I wrote down, "See The Police in concert," though I had no idea if they'd ever reunite. I've kept that goal on the list ever since.Today I bought floor seats to see The Police at Key Arena in Seattle, this coming 6 June. Section AA, row 36, seats 5-6. Good things come to those who wait.Any other MOGers seeing The Police in Seattle

So I've come to the conclusion that Textile, the text editor MOG uses, is evil. Why? Because it's constantly screwing up what I write. Check this comment for an example. Before someone from MOG says, hey, look, just read the instructions, um, has anyone ever actually counted how many text-based formatting systems there are, and observed how none of them seem to be quite the same? I don't have time

So as of yesterday, I'm number 14 on MOG's "Movers and Shakers" list. That's cool. But on my MOG home page, my MOG Meter is all the way to the left, with the status "Below the Radar". So what gives? Am I a mover and shaker, or am I under the radar? Because it's not clear to me how I can be both.

So the song Baby I Love Your Way just came on, and of course I thought of High Fidelity, the scene where John Cusack walks up to the club entrance, hears Lisa Bonet singing a cover, and says to the bouncer, "Is that Peter fucking Frampton?". Does a movie exist with more great music-related dialogue than High Fidelity? And I'm not apologizing for listening to Peter fucking Frampton. I mean, come on.

So about my first concert...It was 1982. I was 19, a Russian interpreter for the US Army, stationed in Würzburg, West Germany. An old roommate of mine from language school (Bob) and his wife (Nancy) and I were headed to an ELO concert that evening. There was a German carnival on base, and we decided to hit some of the rides before we left.If you've ever been on the carnival ride in which you stan

I'd like an "Edit" button for the MOG Meter. Then I can just set myself to "Blazing". Think of how much work that would save!Of course, I'd like to be the only person with this feature. Otherwise, well, inflationary theory and all that.
