YOU CAN'T NOT GET NO SATISFACTION

Peter effing Frampton

So the song Baby I Love Your Way just came on, and of course I thought of High Fidelity, the scene where John Cusack walks up to the club entrance, hears Lisa Bonet singing a cover, and says to the bouncer, "Is that Peter fucking Frampton?". Does a movie exist with more great music-related dialogue than High Fidelity? And I'm not apologizing for listening to Peter fucking Frampton. I mean, come on. It's a cool song, even if it's not Lisa Bonet covering it.

  2. fboosman says Okay, you have to watch High Fidelity now. If not sooner. Seriously, it's an amazing movie. John Cusack is perfect (as he usually is). Jack Black is used as comic relief and shines (as opposed to being asked to carry a movie, at which I think he's less than ideal). The music is great, the musical references are constant, and the dialogue is spot-on.

  3. Parker catalano says I own that movie and can safely say that it is on my top five movies of all time. It's dialogue is just brilliant, not to mention that it's Jack Black's best role ever. Thanks for the awesome reference.

  4. artAlexion says Yeah, the record store scenes - the interplay between Jack Black and Todd Louiso - in High Fidelity were really great, but the loser-in-love/angst stuff - the John Cusack character in general - was pretty unbearable for me. I don't know if I could watch the movie again ... maybe with a fast forward remote control.
