I had never heard her name until she appeared on an episode of Russell Brand's talk show that I downloaded about a month ago. But ever since her performance there, I've heard her name all over the place. And rightly so! She's got one hell of a voice and a very unique sound, not to mention a great sense of humor. Although she is a British singer, something about her pronunciation makes her seem exotic and other-worldly, and I think she likes it that way. Apparently she's got a very turbulent lifestyle full of alcohol problems and eating disorders. This is unfortunate but it seems, right now anyway, that her music is an escape from all that, which makes it even easier to appreciate.
