'Dark Knight' Christian Bale jailed in alleged assault! Of his mother and sister?

The Dark Knight smashed box office records this weekend.

Now comes news that Batman/Bruce Wayne (Christian Bale) has been arrested for allegedly assaulting his mother and sister.

The alleged incident was believed to have taken place on Sunday night at Park Lane's Dorchester Hotel in London where Bale is staying.

Bale's mother, Jenny, 61, and sister Sharon, 40, are said to have gone to a police station in Hampshire to make the allegation, which was subsequently referred to the Metropolitan Police.

Despite the allegations, he was permitted to attend the Monday night premiere of The Dark Knight in London's West End. But this morning he turned himself in and is still in custody, according to police.

A Met Police spokesman told the London Telegraph:

A 34-year-old man attended a London Police Station on Tuesday by appointment and was arrested in connection with an allegation of assault.

I am irresistably reminded of looking at the labels of  various products imported from England and seeing "By Appointment to Her Majesty..."
