  1. Spike says Like plankton sucked through through a whale's baleen, this track will make it into my trove, not an easy task considering how calcified my tastes in recent rock are.

  2. fairportfan says It's not all that recent - it's from like fifteen years or so ago. It's a song that Eddi McAndry, heroine of Emma Bull's first fantasy novel, "*War for the Oaks*":http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0765349159/mikewebersweberw wrote. I highly recommend *War*, by the way - brilliant urban fantasy, with rock'n'roll and motorcycles, as the Seelie (Light) and Unseelie (Dark) Courts of Faerie prepare to go to war in Minneapolis/St Paul. (That's Bull singing on the track, BTW) *Cat's Laughing*'s Another Way to Travel includes this one and another of Eddi's songs, Wear My Face, about which, despite listening, over and over, to Bull sing it, i *still* say you can't sing those lyrics. (Cats Laughing includes fellow Minn/StP fantast author Steve Brust on drums, and Adam Stemple (son of fantasy writer Jane Yolen) on guitar; it sort of intertwines with MinnStP folk/punks "*Boiled in Lead*":http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B000001BCC/mikewebersweberw, as well...)

  3. Spike says By recent I meant since the seventies. Itunes doesn't feature Cats Laughing, but it does feature 10 Cats Laughing. Is there an overlap in personnel?

  4. fairportfan says Doubt it. Dammit. I had a much longer comment all written out, with links to all sorts of interesting things and MOG ate it. Oh, well. I'll probably make a post out of it 'cos i looked up all sorts of neet stuff for it and now i have it at my fingertips. Go to the site i posted a link to to buy the *Cats Laughing* CD Another Way to Travel for $9.99 through CafePress.
