Hyundai is aiming at its 18-49 demographic by offering a free music download in exchange for watching an ad online.

NEW YORK -- Hyundai is kicking off a Web campaign that uses the lure of free music downloads to entice users to watch a TV spot or register for more information.Banners offer music downloads from alternative band The Ataris. When users click, a pop-up screen shows a 20-second Hyundai Elantra commercial, while a song [*Not Capable of Love* - ff] by the band plays and its corresponding MP3 file is downloaded to the user's computer.
Consumers can also have the song sent to their cell phones as a ringtone.

There's another campaign running also, featuring a song [*Vulnerable*] by Secondhand Serenade.

I had never heard of Secondhand Serenade, but what the hell, free is free, right? and i can tell by the photo of the guy it isn't gonna be hip-hop, so i sownloaded it.
Well, i liked it.
I'll probably seriously consider the CD if i wever have any disposable income.
(Something about the vocals puts me in mind of "*Cowboy Mouth*":http://cowboymouth.com - don't ask me what - but i think i like it, even without that.)
I Just downloaded the Ataris track, too; i'll have to think about it...

moovyphreak says That is some interesting marketing. The newly-redesigned Elantra looks like the spawn of the late-model Dodge Neon and the late-model Toyota Corolla. I have a 2006 Sonata and love it. It's a great car that performs well and is nice to look at. Plus, it costs thousands less than similar models from Honda, Toyota and Chrysler. Also, in an ironic twist, Cowboy Mouth played at the college where I work last night, as part of our Spring Weekend.

I try to tell everyone i recommend them to online to introduce themselves to Fred (who almost always hangs with the crowd after the show) and tell him i sent them... There's a picture of Fred with my stepdaughter at the bottom of "*my homepage*":http://electronictiger.com, from three or four years ago, when CM played a free show in Centennial Park.
