    I Ain't Marching Any More
Many of those who want to rush this country into war and think it would be so quick and easy don't know anything about war. They come at it from an intellectual perspective, versus having sat in jungles or foxholes and watched their friends get their heads blown off.--2002Look at the deficits that have been run up... And Republicans have been in charge... We've been adrift in a sea of incompetence, with no fiscal responsibility.--Fall 2004The tough questions were not asked when we sent young men and women into Vietnam. Where were our elected officials then? Eleven years and 58,000 deaths later, we lost. I don't want that to happen in Iraq.--Fall 2004I have a responsibility to do everything I can to assure our men and women who are serving in uniform and their families that America has a policy that is worthy of their sacrifices... The deadly struggle for Iraq is not a video game that can be turned off until Nov. 2. War is not an abstraction... I know. I've been to war.--Fall 2004I don't think the federal government has any business in dictating what constitutes a marriage.--May 2005To question your government is not unpatriotic - to *not* question your government is unpatriotic.--November 2005I took an oath of office to the Constitution, I didn't take an oath of office to my party or my president.--December 2005Well, I didn't like what Mr. Rove said, because it frames terrorism and the issue of terrorism and everything that goes with it, whether it's the renewal of the Patriot Act or the NSA wiretapping, in a political context.--January 2006National security is more important than the Republican Party or the Democratic Party. And to use it to try and get someone elected will ultimately end up in defeat and disaster for that political party.--January 2006If [Cheney]'d been in the military, he would have learned gun safety.

  1. Wozniak says Good quotes, but what's his voting record?

  2. fairportfan says Don't know - here's his "*official web page*":http://hagel.senate.gov/; and his "*voting record* at OnTheIssues.com":http://www.ontheissues.org/Senate/Chuck_Hagel.htm is pretty much Not What I Like To See. However, his opinions on the war and the way that the Shrub's (mis)administration has conducted it and everything related to it are valid; even a stopped clock is right twice a day (or once a day on military bases...)

  3. Wozniak says You can quote me on this: "He fucking sucks." It's business as usual with this guy.

  5. Wozniak says More and more Republicans are dissenting re: the administration on both the environment/global warming and the war. It'll be interesting to see if the political anit-corruption bill makes it to Bush's desk (I'm assuming it hasn't hit the Senate yet) and to see whether he'll veto it or not. Here's hoping for 66.67% the next two years.

  6. Nixne Svix says No one cares that Men who have not been to War send other Men to die. The Men who have been at war are hestitant because they simply KNOW. Its like having a fucking Brownie Scout as your Police Chief. I guarantee someone is gonna get hurt. I would pay good money to see Cheney walk down Main Street Baghdad, just a few blocks..........God Bless out Military , to hell with this Administration-The Real Global Terrorists and The True Killers of Americans .

  7. RGM says My Niece and Nephew are both under 10 years of age, and I'm terrified for their future. I tell my wife it's not about me, I'm just a speck in time and the sceme. Like my GrandMother and Mother who feared for my brother and I dieing useless in a war without an explanation. I also for my Niece and Nephew. Wait for women to be drafted, equel opportunity they'll say. It's just the nature of the beast, I knew a Pastor who said he wished God would just kill us all and just weed us all out. I really believe in God, but I really Don't believe in Mankind...

  8. Nixne Svix says Mine too about the same age RGM , My little brother and now all my students , ex-students and soon to be students(whom I am quite fond of) are either in the military or will be. Its terrifying to know that they may die for some joke like the Iraq war, I grew up fearing and dumbstruck by my Fathers (marine) war. I thought it so far away and incredibley stupid , there was no way it would happen again. My father says its worse now than in his war. That says alot.
