Following up the Bratz! takedown story

Posted about 1 year ago

In a recent post, i exulted that the courts had ordered the discontinuance, recall and destruction of the "Bratz!" dolls line. Apparently other people feel the same:

I've been following a webcomic titled Punch an' Pie (that link is for the man page, th eone for the specific strip is below, and don't ask me what the strip's title refers to) - from whence cometh the image below - which (mostly) follows the adventures of Angela, a pintsized blonde with more energy than anyone i've ever met, except, possibly for my soon-to-be-three granddaughter Maggie.

When we first met Angela, she worked in a chain toy store, but it closed down and she went to work in a chain bookstore. Justin, who appears in the strip i'm about to link to, was a weird, maybe almost autistic kid who worked there too; some of the others used to torment him with a bear that sang the macarena. Now Justin is a successful author of kid's books, and the toy chain has decided to re-enter the local market and Angela either is or is in line to be the manager of the new store. (Not that any of this matters, really...)

So click here for the Punch an' Pie strip for 8 December 2008.

Trying to post a comment here yet again....

I really like the scenario of this, Mike, cheers!

And for the sake of humanity and civilization, I hope that the macarena bear will never come to be...

I'm not all over the intellectual property topic, but that strip seemed to sum up the artist/worker view to a tee. Nice one.
