I just discovered that our new car has satellite radio; to the best of my knowledge we aren't paying for it... (The car was a Hertz vehicle; maybe they didn't deactivate it when they sold it off).
Anyway, i've been listening to Little Steven's Underground Garage, and the current "Coolest Song of the Week" (or whatever) is a little ditty entitled The Streets of Atlanta, by the Mother Truckers, who hail from Austin. (Click here for a sample of the song from the Mother Trckers' website.)

Me like.
It Kicks Ass and doesn't give a f**k what your name was.
But the second time i was listening to it, i was thinking it put me firmly in mind of early-to-mid-period Dash Rip Rock. (The DRR track attached here is a cut named String You Up and it's marginally Not Safe For Work, as Bill compares his girlfriend to his guitar. This is a sample from an online source and doesn't really showcase Bill's gutar...)
Not that i mean theMother Truckers are in any way derivative - just that it put me in mind...

a true pirate vessel, yarr!
A bit short but likeable all the same
As i said, it's only an excerpt - about 1:35, i think - the whole song is rather over three minutes.
