How to save streaming audio to disk

   mollifire says it's funny. even though i have a somewhat similar method for recording streams, i find i can rarely be bothered to do it. i think the main reason is that the stream is usually not high quality, so it ends up being too much work to record ogg or wav and then convert to something smaller like mp3. how about you - do you use it much? of course, it is nice to have when you hear something totally rare.

   laura27 says shhh, don't mention things like that on mog, you'll be drawn and quartered and have 'thief' painted on you in tar! i'm guessing. i've never recorded streams before, for the same reason mollifire mentioned, they'd be terrible quality and not worth it. unless it was some really rare track that couldn't be found elsewhere. like myspace streams, they're compressed down so much, to something like 96kbps. so i'd consider it if it was really worth it. thanks for the tip if i ever need it!

   Bartleby says Both Mollifire and Laura27 are on the right -- streams are often so poor quality, it's seldom worth preserving it on your HD. Thanks for the tip all the same.

   fairportfan says The Kooks streams i found today were 128K, and the recording software saves in Ogg Vorbis, which is lossless so you don't lose there...
