Beside her daughter's distress at the way Britney is being treated, i'm sure Madonna has some idea what it must be like from her own experience...

Madonna's Daughter Wants To Protect Spears

Pop superstar Madonna wants the media to stop targeting troubled singer Britney Spears - because her daughter Lourdes feels sorry for her. The Evita star - who famously kissed Spears during a performance at the 2003 MTV Video Music Awards - admits her 11-year-old daughter has been distressed by her public downfall.
She says, "(The media) need to step off. For real... Let's go save her. (Lourdes) knows Britney, but she doesn't really watch TV or read gossip stuff. I think she sort of gets the drift of what's going on, and I think she feels very protective of Britney."
Earlier this year, Spears lost the right to visit her sons Sean Preston, two, and Jayden James, one, last month after a breakdown at her Beverly Hills home. She has also spent time in a rehabilitation centre and has been plagued by driving offences.

  2. Vtshome says I don't think Madonna was ever that far gone. She is way to smart to be doing the stuff Brit does in public. I think it's real cute that Lourdes is sticking up for her friend.

  3. sonical says Like her or not Britney had a huge impact on music and the lives of many young girls. I hope she gets the help she needs and becomes a positive story rather than 2 hour special of "Behind the Music" like so many other child stars. I just wonder what reality show she will be on when she's 40. Think the Surreal Life will still be on-air???

  4. indiepixie says dude - i want to know what Lourdes thinks about Brits sister too. Sounds like the mission should be widened to the whole spears crew. (Still entitled "Mission Impossible" keep in mind). IP

  5. extraordinarypoems says Cool. I have really worried that we are going to wake up to news of Britney's suicide. It won't all be so funny then.

  7. fairportfan says Nah - major papers have canned obits that they periodically update for everyone who makes the news much.

  10. fairportfan says ..of course, i have a more-or-less close connection with one of the main publishers of science fiction these days - my brother (David Weber) is one of their biggest sellers (NYTimes Bestseller List on a regular basis) ... and i've know his editor since she was 18.
