And well they should.
However they claim that it was a "preview", a prediction of what the album would probably sound like, based on the band's previous output and the one song available for preview (which is presumably typical of the album).
What they're really apologising for, actually, is giving a rating to the album, and saying it was a review.
(They apparently did the same thing to an album from Nas.)
Atlanta's Creative Loafing has (well, had - it's been years since i actually saw a copy) a column titled "Music Menu", which faetures short characterisations of what you can expect to hear from various acts playing town this week. Nobody ever complains about that. (Well, some bands complain about how they get treated, but no-on complains about it as "reviews of shows you haven't heard yet"...)
So, basically, Maxim screwed up, got caught, and now they're trying to spin the situation.
OTOPH, i did love this quote from the "review":
"They sound pretty much like they always have: boozy, competent, and in slavish debt to the Stones, the Allmans, and the Faces."That's been my opinion of the Black Crowes for years, and why i pay no attewntion to them...

Don't you just hate it when they do that?
