Randomise Your Life, Pt 2.

Posted over 5 years ago
So here we go with a second set of songs selected by setting MusicMatch on "Shuffle" and letting it feed me at random (i will admit that playlist this comes from isn't my whole collection -- but it does include about 700 songs that pretty well cover the gamut of what i have...)*The Minstrel Boy* - Clancy Brothers & Tommy Makem - Ireland; the land of happy wars and sad love songs. ...the minstrel fell but the foeman's steel couldn't bring that wild heart under; the harp he loved ne'er spoke again for he tore its cords a-sunder ... thy songs were made for the brave and free; they shall ne'er sound in slavery! The Ballad of Cleetus Awreetus Awrightus - Frank Zappa - second time i saw Zappa live they had some setup probs and were in a house with a curfew. For the encore Zappa announced "We have two minues to perform 'The Ballad of Cleetus Awreetus Awrightus', which we have never done in under three." They roared through it, finished about two seconds before the lights went out.Once I Had a Love - Blondie - Shows how important a good producer can be; if they'd released this as a single, would they be touring today, twenty-seven years later? It's hard to believe that the addition of the words "heart of glass" to the lyric, a speeded up tempo and more elaborate keyboards made this into a mega-hit.Rest in Peace - James Marsters (Spike) from Once More with Feeling, the musical episode of Buffy; he always looked like Billy Idol; he does such a good job here that i had to check to see if maybe Idol had kicked off and Marsters was channeling him.Love Me I'm a Liberal - Jello Biafra and Mojo Nixon (from "Prairie Home Invasion") two bad boy political rockers up date Phil Ochs' classic. And the next five (without {much} commentary):Tam Lin, by Fairport Convention (featuring vocal by Sandy Denny)Jazz - Delicious Hot, Disgusting Cold, by The Bonzo Dog (Doo-Dah) BandSilver Threads and Golden Needles, by The CowsillsDry Land Farm, by Butch Hancock (Butch claims he used a tractor as his instrument, composing this song while plowing)The Hens' March Medley, by Fairport Convention (live) from Before the Moon

  1. Spencer Owen says I like randomizing memes. Should probably try one later on. If I did it at work, it would be a combination of Boris, Burnt Friedman, Cut Chemist, Frank Zappa, Georgia Anne Muldrow, Girl Talk, Handsomeboy Technique, Jean-Luc Ponty (plays Frank Zappa), Joan of Arc, Los Lobos, OOIOO, Steely Dan, Tom Petty, Wolf Eyes, and Zap Mama. (because that is all I have on this computer; I haven't even listened to 1/3 of it, and I don't even care for Girl Talk)
