I think I'm going to start a list of my favourite love songs, thanks to this song popping up on my shuffle (Third Engine). I remember hearing a rumor that this song was written by the lead singer of Saves the Day to another man. Love Songs:(in no particular order)1. Gorecki- Lamb2. Body Parts - Jump Little Children3. We're In This Together Now - NIN4. Clavicle - Alkaline Trio5. Wonderwall - Ryan Adams6. My Love - Tristan Prettyman7. Us - Regina Spektor8. Third Engine - Saves the Day9. Drive South - John Hiat10. Empty - Janet Jackson11. I Found a Reason - Cat Power12. Sweet Euphoria - Chris Cornell13. Heart-Shaped Box - Nirvana14. Nothing Even Matters - Lauryn Hill15. Out Loud - Dispatch16. Take Me With You - Prince17.Beautiful - G. Love and Tristan Prettyman18. Tautou - Brand New19. Excerpts From Various Notes - Cursive (Just the last verse)I'm in a pretty cool place right now emotionally. One of my best friends just drove up to Stafford for lunch, yippie yaya for Doug.I spent last night at my brother's new town house and he had done one of my favourite things ever: called me to let me know that he heard a song that made him think of me. Well, you have to have a little background:a. Juston is my hero. b. Juston NEVER listens to anything but hip-hop or R&B. But apparently his roomate had brought the Incubus DVD (Alive at Red Rocks) and he had watched it and loved it. When I went over to visit he got all flustered and excited, insisting I watch it with him. and I was shocked. I have always liked Incubus--like since middle school I guess. But as I grew up and my taste kind of shifted I stopped listening to them. But I was fascinated with the DVD, the talent level of the muscians was amazing. The energy was so raw. I have to see them live now. The 9:30 Club in DC of course sold out, but I hope I can find another show Juston and I can go to and rock out. Because watching that DVD and having hours of conversation about the music, the allusions in the songs, and just how talented they were was amazing. I guess I always feel a little out of place with my music taste and the fact that my brother was so excited about something that isn't his type of music and actually stoked to see a show with me was just...awesome.But yeah. Now I wanna see Incubus live. What are y'alls favourite love songs??http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kJxWVvovGAoa taste of the Inc Alive at Red Rocks DVD.

  1. kristiana says Hey, nice post. I miss my brother (3 time zones away) sooooo much! Off the top of my head? "Always", performed by Billy Holiday. "Ballad in Plain D", Bob Dylan. Also, Joy Division's "Ceremony", Pixies "Hey" (some would maybe find these odd choices...)
