And here's the review of the album from Daily OM Music:
May 9, 2007 The Sermon on Exposition Boulevard Rickie Lee Jones 2007
"The Sermon on Exposition Boulevard finds Rickie Lee Jones at the end of her third decade of recording, and it's a unique record in her already varied catalogue. The seed of its concept was sown two years before the record was released when artist Lee Cantelon created a book presenting the words of Jesus (only the direct quotes) in the accurately titled The Words. He then asked a group of musicians to create backing tracks for a spoken-word version of the book. One of these musicians was Jones, who asked if instead of reading the words she could sing them. Ignoring the text, Jones then spoke from her heart, weaving airy guitar under her gentle refrains.
A year later, Jones added a few more traditionally constructed songs to the collection and released them as they are presented here, an ebb-and-flow journey through passionate improvisations and bluesy, almost gothic, folk-rock songs. The best of them might be "It Hurts," where Jones builds to a powerful coda from simple beginnings: "It makes me laugh/ I think about us/ The way we light up the way home." The final track, "I Was There," is equally passionate but quiet and reflective, displaying spirituality in the modern world that isn't guided by religion or leaders but by intimacy and personal connections.
Jones has taken a lot from her long career, and her performance here is soul-baring in the way only the most confident and comfortable performers can be. As her voice weaves its way through dark tales like "Donkey Ride" and soaring rock anthems like "Elvis Cadillac," the emotional search for personal faith is the only thing that remains constant. It's more than enough to lift even the heaviest soul."

Fascinating video, animation in the paper-cutout tradsition of Terry Gilliam, though undoubtedly done on a computer.
Interesting song, too.

Terry Gilliam is the American member of Monty Python; he did the titles and animation for their programs.
He is also, of course, the the director of The Adventures of Baron Munchausen (incidentally Uma Thurman's first film), The Fisher King, Brazil and Twelve Monkeys.
