http://www.thealabamaband.com/I'm a little homesick for my loved ones --- namely, my daughter, who lives in Alabama with her dad. So, I'm playing a little "downhome" music from the band. In addition to just listening, I wanted to know about the background performers. When I checked out guitarist Mark Casstevens, I found that he has recorded with an impressive list of other performers:http://www.markcasstevens.com/credits.htmlAnd bass player Larry Paxton and Kristin Wilkinson, who arranged strings for the band, have a cd together. Wilkinson is a composer and a performer who might interest you. From the website: http://www.classichymns.com/kris.htm"She orchestrated and conducted on top chart record releases for various artists including Neil Young, Sixpence None the Richer, Alabama, Jimmy Buffett, Indigo Girls, Melissa Manchester, Patti Griffin, Nancy Griffith and Roy Orbison, to name but a few. Most recently, Kristin has orchestrated on the film release “Daddy and Them”, and composed “Animal Planet” network ID’s and “Video Postcards”.
I was also wondering about other songs that feature Alabama, besides the obvious, "Sweet Home Alabama," and I found this list:http://www.swe.uni-linz.ac.at/staff/bob/country/states/alabama.htmlI'm surprised to see that The Doors have a song on the list. So, name some songs that feature YOUR state or hometown, and I'll give them a listen. Thanks for those willing to get in the hometown mood with me.
