Here Comes the Downpour

Posted almost 3 years ago

Good morning, everybody! I'm still high on last night's Fray concert, which I watched with my daughter in a thunderstorm at Chastain Park Ampitheatre in Atlanta. We had no umbrella, like most of the crowd, but few people wanted to leave. We let the rain fall while we sang, got drenched to the bone, and really just had a spiritual experience out there while the lightning struck and the band sizzled. They were amazed that we stayed -- they kept saying, "You people are crazy, but as long as you stay, we'll keep playing."

We put our hands up and swayed like we were in church, and when the band sang, "Here comes the downpour," everybody screamed. It was magical.

The day's last one-way ticket train pulls in
We smile for the casual closure capturing.
Here comes the downpour
There goes my fare thee well
There's really no way to reach me
'Cause I'm already gone
There's only so many words that we could say
Spoken upon long-distance melody.
This is my hello
This is my goodness
There's really no way to reach me
'Cause I'm already gone
Maybe in five or ten yours and mine will meet again
Straighten this whole thing out.
Maybe then honesty need not be feared as a friend or an enemy
But this is the distance
And this is my game face
There's really no way to reach me
'Cause I'm already gone
So this is your maverick And this is Vienna

Sizzled? I hope that wasn't a consequence of the lightning.

Yes, Pimp, it was dangerous --- even the band said, "Hey, you know, we've got electric guitars."  Ha ha.  But we rocked on.

Thanks for catching the sizzle, Mike --- thought it was a nice metaphor.

Good to see ya, Earthman. Yes, not much to that video.
