WHERE MUSIC LISTENS TO YOU

More Tribute Songs to Our Ghosts

Posted over 2 years ago
I am posting these songs in honor of CrashPryor and of all of our ghosts, as one MOGGER has so well put it.The first speaks of the silence our loved ones give us and the comfort we find in even that silence. After they are gone, sometimes it is all we have. The second features so many wonderful lines about how our loved one made us a better person and how we undervalued him or her --- but, as the songwriter puts it, "If my words don't come together, listen to the melody, cause my love's in there hiding." We can find our loved ones again in music sometimes.

  4. dharmachris says Great choice with the Dixie Chicks. That really resonates with me tonight, thinking of our ghosts and the comfortable silence of being with those who understand us.

  6. extraordinarypoems says Thanks for your responses. I have missed talking to all of you. Mike, you're right. We must need to believe in ghosts, since we celebrate them every Halloween.

  7. extraordinarypoems says Dharmachris, glad you know what I mean. After I visited my mother's grave on Mother's Day, I listened to the Dixie Chicks --- a friend had recently given me the cd, and I hadn't listened to it yet. That was when I discovered the song. I cried and cried, but it was healing, and my daughter, who was driving, held my hand and just kept silent while I cried because she understood. My mother had a hard time expressing her feelings, especially after she became so sick with multiple sclerosis; it kind of shuts the emotions down or makes them out of control, depending on what is happening in the nervous system. But I know how deeply she loved me, and sometimes I just have to take comfort in the silence.
