for this year's Mosaic Music Fest i went for Sondre Lerche and the Faces Down..

and it was FANTASTIC. far far cry frm Yo La Tengo last yr. he managed to get our usually stuffy audience up on our feet and dancing away to Phantom Punch.. and singing along to Sleep on Needles (which was totally awesome even though i was surrounded by older folks who clearly didnt know the lyrics to his songs..)

and he played almost ALL my favourite songs, so i'm happy. LOVED the extended jam session of Dead Passengers. the Faces Down are excellent.

and totally fangirly of me, but we queued for his autograph. no time for pics, but i managed to exchange a couple of words with him. :))

so now, i want to watch Dan In Real Life. haha. and i cannot wait for baybeats and next's yr's lineup!

but I really don't like Radiohead.

Which is a waste because I really want to like them, but I've tried and tried and I still can't get into them. i love Fake Plastic Trees and Black Star like the next person, but I just cannot stand Thom Yorke's voice- it's just too nasal for me.

Its almost ridiculous because I've just heard In Rainbows. I liked it.. until Thom starts singing. :((

normally I don't listen to instrumental-type music, but I've just discovered Four Tet and they rock! Especially My Angel Rocks Back and Forth. :)
wanted to upload the song, but somehow its just taking too long. too bad.

i've just realised that dance can really change my perception of a song.

why is it that i can love a song that i normally wouldn't deign to listen to at all only when i learn choreography for it?

like bjork. until i had to audition for my dance ensemble to human behaviour and subsequently learned steps for bachelorette, i would have written her off as that kooky weirdo who wears swans and sings weird songs. now, those two tracks are one of the most inspiring songs i have in my library.

even a really flat song can sound better when its blasted loud with people looking like they have fun dancing to it.

i guess it goes both ways too- i probably enjoy a dance more when i like the particular song used. haha.

long overdue first post!

anyhow, i'm really excited by the artists coming for the mosaic music festival! i REALLY want to go for rachael yamagata and yo la tengo. and maybe jose gonzalez. then besides them there's tristan prettyman and rickie lee jones and album leaf.. amazing. that they're all coming to singapore. this looks to be a good concert year esp with muse and eric clapton this mth too :)

anyway, i have a ton of new songs and artists to listen to, but for some reason i keep going back to my older songs that i haven't heard for a while, like copeland (all the acoustic/piano versions!) and mae.sigh. somehow i'm just not in the mood! even though i was sooo happy when i received my camera obscura album in the mail last week i haven't really listened to it yet. straaaaaange.
