MUSIC SIGNPOSTS ON THE WEB'S LONELY ROAD

Artist:

I've been dabbling in Wilco for some time now, but for some reason it is just not clicking with me. I've heard nothing but good things about this band, so I have to ask.. Is this some kind of acquired taste? Just trying to give it a fair shot.

I just started to really get into Wilco. They're talented, sure, but I'm still on the fence.

Well, I'm a live music guy and it really blew up for me when I saw them live. AMAZING show.

They are pretty jammy and have a lot of different styles. Jeff Tweedy's songwriting is incredible. But I've only been on the train since Ghost is Born. I like the older stuff but it's only been a few years now.

I'd say listen to their new album a few times. Older stuff is great too.

What else do you like?

They're not for everyone. But if you wanna keep trying, start with the songs Boxful of Letters and Jesus etc. The most accessible records are probably Yankee Hotel Foxtrot and Being There. Good luck!

yankee hotel foxtrot, a carton of cigarettes, a case of whiskey, and nowhere to go. It's the only recipe for Wilco I know

thanks guys! you have all been extremely helpful. i do think wilco is talented both lyrically and instrumentally (thanks for the video blue). i'm just not really connecting with it. i will try all of your suggestions though. sometimes the music that i have to let grow on me ends of being some of my favorite.

and if anyone has more to say, please feel free :)

I could not interest myself in listening to them until I saw their DVD, "I Am Trying to Break Your Heart," about the making of "Yankee Hotel Foxtrot." It is very human and engaging!
