WHERE MUSIC LISTENS TO YOU

"thanks spencer" or "my current love affair with andrew WK

Posted over 2 years ago
this post was inspired by spencer owen, i dont know if he brought up andrew WK as a joke or not, but regardless...when i first heard andrew WK i was amused yet not exactly moved to buy the CD... this was when party hard was the single. over the next few years i heard many interviews and became intrigued with this man and his philosophies on life and music. he struck me as a genuine person who happened to fall into the lime light almost if by sheer accident with his positive motivational approach to rock n roll. i think the record labels and press realized the out of place nature of his music in the current music scene and he quickly fell out of the limelight. recently ive come across several touring musicians who had their own personal andrew WK stories, each one more wild than the last. while working at a pizza joint this year, i was feeling really down in the dumps. a friend of mine put on the party hard EP and all of a sudden i was dancing while making pizzas and i was feeling really good. i cant confirm most of the stories ive heard about andrew WK but i can confirm that his music has a medicinal effect on bad moods and blue feelings. andrew WK i salute you. i know this isnt the most well written mog i have ever posted, but i am tired and i dont care. i just wanted to get this sentiment out there... right now i am listening to the streaming files of "Close calls with brick walls" on mister WK's website thanks to spencer... spencer, i salute you.

  5. jonnyalmagest says Fuck yes for Andrew WK, his "It's Time To Party" song kicks off my playlist of upbeat, make you dance music. So great. I've always wanted to meet that guy. One friend of mine said she's ridden on his back across stage at every show of his she's been to.

  6. Iren says I never got into his music....but here is my Andrew WK story... first off he went to my high school, when my sister was there, but he played with a band called Isis and the Werewolves... which was a great band name.. anyway they opened for Mazinga (the band my brother was managing at the time and we were releasing records by)... So at the show I listened to Isis and the Werewolves for a couple of minutes, it was pure noise, and spent the rest of their set in the allyway behind the venue with Big Tony from Mazinga talking about how they were just wasting a great band name.....
