iPod

Posted almost 6 years ago
I've got to say I'm really dissappointed in my iPod. It hasn't been working properly for awhile, and just when I think I've got the problem fixed it finds a new way to frustrate me. I'm beginning to think its hopeless and that I'm going to have to break down and get it replaced, after paying more money of course. I also kind of want to throw the piece of trash in the garbage where it belongs. Has anyone else had iPod problems? If you have I would love to hear about them, maybe this is some kind of scam, mine broke a little after the warranty expired. Curious, huh? By the way, the new Tom Verlaine record is great, his best effort since "Marquee Moon". Speaking of Televison, how does a band that puts out a debut record that is considered a masterpiece follow it up without dissappointing people? It seems like a curse to be so brilliant.

  1. yarrr says I have a mini and the click wheel is totally useless these days. And no warantee here, either. I try to pause and all it does is skip to the next track. That's also affected my iTrip, so I can't listen to it in my car anymore. It works well enough for me to use it when I practice drums, so it's not going into the trash just yet, but I'm pretty sick of it and ready for a new one.

  2. melmaples says Well, this is like any other electronic device (or indeed anything else you can read about on the internet) -- if you say "thingamagizmos are awesome, they're the best device out there," you're going to have a million people with working thingamagizmos chime in and agree. Likewise, if your thingamagizmo breaks and you say, "thingamagizmos suck, no one should ever buy one" a million other people with broken thingamagizmos will agree with that, also. What does it say about the quality of thingamagizmos? Absolutely nothing. I've had four iPods and have never had a problem with any of them; I've only bought new ones when trading up from an outdated model. On the other hand, one of my closest friends had three iPods, and none of them worked correctly. Having said that, he also had various other makes of mp3 player, and most of those had problems, too. Such is the nature of electronic thingamagizmos. I think the only way you're ever going to completely avoid problems with electronic devices is to completely avoid electronic devices. Which might not be such a bad idea. :-)

  3. SWozniak says What's the problem with the iPod? I'm one of those that hasn't had a problem yet (aside from trying to learn how to delete the library on the iPod when updating the whole damn thing...long story).

  4. Borbass says the new Tom Verlaine CD is great. My iPod wouldn't do ANYTHING when I first got it. It took me a while to find one (it was in xmas time), but once I did, I just returned it and that was it. Mine's been fine ever since. Only problem I have is sometimes it won't turn off and I have to let the battery die and recharge it before it will let me turn it off manually again. It's only happened twice so far, though.

  5. LadyC says i love the latest verlaine, though i know nothing of his previous work. i'm a big tech geek but i am anti-mp3 player due to the crowds of peeps shutting off in their urban environment. if i see someone blocking out the world with headphones, it makes me totally sad...anyway i have seen my friends or aquaintances agonise over their ipod problems..me thinks it's not what it is cracked up to be.

  7. essone says Thanks for the advice, and I guess the only way to avoid these problems is to not deal with the things. The iPod seems to work now, after working on it a few days. It might sound crazy, but I think what did it was a few firm blows to it, really it worked.
