This track from "Blues Rolls On" get some help from the legendary B.B. King.
B.B.'s the most important guy in blues. I've been listening to him since the fifties and have known him since we played together at the old Fillmore in the mid-sixties. He was nice enought to invite me to his room at the Fairmont Hotel, where I found him on his bed surrounded by sheet music, working away on scales and exercises. After we had a long talk, he called up a barbeque place in Oakland and had two orders of 'dry-fried' ribs delivered. Oh yeah!
B.B. provided a great example for a young musician like myself - he taught me a lot about developing a habit of self-improvement and valuing the music over some of the BS aspects of the music business.

How does one praise this without sounding fawning? Ok, I'll try. I like the "ambience" of the recording. It has that 'roadhouse' feel, sawdust on the floor, politically incorrect blue haze hangin' in the air. Shirt-sleeves sweat stained blues. Its easy to hear that the ensemble was the thing, no room for showboatin'. Honest music, timeless & timely. It sounds like you had a ball. So I liked it a lot.
Nothing but sweetness....
I was melting from the first note. I travel with other blues guys but in the end I always come back to BB. Love that rolling rhythm - just made for moving.
I have long been a HUGE BB King fan. He's had a massive influence on my music and my listening. I have really enjoyed hearing his collaborations.
Put BB and Elvin Bishop together and you're in ES heaven!
I'm not worthy ;-)
I can't imagine how much fun it would be to sit down and listen in on such an impromptu session.
I'm very grateful for the sharing...
eardelicious - thanks
FYI- BB King released what many are considering one of his best albums ever last week- "One Kind Favor"
Elvin, I was friends and neighbors of Johnny 'V' Vernazza - was nice to see a clip of you guys jamming togehter this summer!
Fantastic to have you as a fellow MOGGER, welcome!
OH man, Elvin Bishop spinning his personal BB King recordings right here on MOG, you guys are making my day!! HELL YEAH!!
Damn good stuff! They don't make blues guys like this anymore :-( Stellar!
I love this. I'm so glad you're on MOG!
