WHERE MUSIC LISTENS TO YOU

When your band is in a commercial...

Posted over 3 years ago
I heard about Hem a few years back via a CD ring, and have since purchased more of their music - they're a great mix of traditional sounds and really pretty vocals. The story/legend of the band includes the very talented singer auditioning by singing a lullabye into an answering machine. One of my favorite songs from the album is called "Half Acre".So, when I recently heard one of my favorite songs by a semi-secret artist in a commercial, I had mixed feelings - psyched for them that they were getting some props, but also wondering what happened? Did an agency creative director also stumble across this band and decide to put the music in?Check out the video:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wMwoexR1evoWhat do you think - is it great to hear your secret band in an iPod or car commercial, or is it kind of a drag that the secret is out?

  1. ladyfizzgig says it's never a drag, all that means is that there's one more commercial I am more than willing to shake my moneymaker to. btw, that song is great, and I really like that commercial. I like what that commercial has to say, (aside from the blatant advertising of course, I just mean the chain of helping hands.) and the music helped add to the ambienc e, definitely. Of course, on another note, just because a not-well-known band gets a song in a commercial does not mean that they are automatically destined to be the next #1 hit, so I wouldn't worry too much about it.
