Got some wtf news today that made no sense and really bummed me out. It's times like these that I want to hurl my Joni Mitchell records out the window and just rock until the plaster falls off the walls. Today I needed to hear Suicidal Tendencies' "Institutionalized".First heard this jam on the Repo Man soundtrack back in like 84? 85? It was funny, I worked in a record store and they didn't want to carry the album because of the negative implications of the band's name. Ha! We ended up getting it as an import and couldn't keep it in stock, even though the manager wouldn't let us play the record instore because it made the mall customers run screaming...The lyrics are hilarious:"Sometimes I try to do things and it just doesn't work out the way I wanted to. I get real frustrated and I try hard to do it and I take my time and it just doesn't work out the way I wanted to. It seems like I concentrate on it real hard but it just doesn't work out. Everything I do and everything I try never turns out. It's like I need time to figure these things out. But there's always someone there going. She goes: No you're not thinking, you're on drugs! Normal people don't act that way! I go: Mom just give me a Pepsi please! All I want is a Pepsi, and she wouldn't give it to me! How can you know what's MY best interest is? How can you say what MY best interest is? What are you trying to say I'm crazy? When I went to your schools, I went to your churches; I went to your institutional learning facilities?! So how can you say I'm crazy? They say they're gonna fix my brain. Alleviate my suffering and my pain. But by the time they fix my head. Maaaaaaaaan I used to have _Still Cyco After All These Years_ (iTunes Link) on CD but can't find it anymore. I kinda like it better than the original even though its not as "authentic", so to speak. I grew up in a really little town and remember, like, special ordering it from the video rental store that had started selling CDs.
