Concrete Blonde's 1990 LP "Bloodletting" contained their breakthrough single "Joey", which other folks have posted about on MOG, but my fave on this album was "Caroline", a haunting, rocking song about a disappeared girl.....the video, rarely seen, is superb. I've attached 2 vids - a link to the the "official" promo video (embedding disable dammit), and another homebrewed vid from YouTube with much better audio. Roxy Music drummer Paul Thompson plays on this album, and his heavy, steady beat really added something great to Concrete Blonde while he was in the band. The song sounds so good! "Caroline", from "Bloodletting" - an essential 80's track from Concrete Blonde!Homebrewed version:"Official" video link:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fQw5DoGBhOsConcrete Blonde - "Caroline"I hear you're drivingsomeone else's car now...She said you came andtook your stuff away -All the poetry, and the trunkyou kept your life in -I knew that it wouldcome to that someday...Like a sad hallucination, when I opened up my eyes, the train had passed the station, and you were trapped inside...Yet I never wonder where you went,I only wonder why,I wonder why...Oh CarolineOh, whoa-oh Carolineoh, oh Carolinewhoa whoa whoa, CarolineWell I hear you're using someone else's number; She said she saw you in the store today. It doesn't matter whose addressyou're listed under,I only know they'll never make you stay.Like a memory in motion, you were only passing through...that is all you've ever known of life, that's all you'll ever do.There's a dream I have where I sail away;looking back I wave at you,and I wave goodbye...Oh CarolineOh, oh whoa oh, CarolineOh, oh CarolineOhIn another life I see youas an angel flying high, and the hands of time will free you -you will cast your chains aside -and the dawn will come and kiss awayevery tear that's ever fallenfrom your eyes...behind those eyes,I wonderOh, Caroline... oh, oh, oh...Oh, oh... Caroline...Sometimes I wonder...Oh... CarolineSometimes I,Sometimes I wonder...

God I loved this album, my girlfriends and I listened to it a lot in high school. This was my fave song too, hands down. I need to track it down, I keep forgetting, thanks!

can't go here with you ebuzz. this album reminds me of a guy and it really really hurts. coincidentally, his last name was miller. but I don't hold you responsible in any way for how it worked out. it's all over now, like a distant pain, but i can't go back there and so I'm not watching this one. but it belongs on the list.
