Looking back, it's kind of amazing that MTV played Nazareth's "Holiday" as much as they did, given that the band were really more 70's rock than anything else MTV spun Nazareth's big hit was "Love Hurts" - a 70's FM radio staple if there ever was one). MTV even used a piece of "Holiday" in their commercial promos. The band looks like a bunch of old rockers in the vid , and this was 27 years ago! Truth be told, other than this track and "Love Hurts", I haven't heard any other Nazareth tracks - but this one is a classic. The video even includes some vintage arcade footage - great to see how far we've come to arrive at PS3 and Xbox 360. Nazareth's "Holiday" - another essential 80's track!

Yikes, I do recall this from when my folks got cable during Reagan's first term. If I remember correctly, there were a lot of b-list Brit bands that got on MTV because music videos had been done for a while in England. I remember a show in the 70s in New Zealand called Radio With Pictures. Also, the USA network had something similar in the early 80s - a mix of music videos and clips of concert footage. Since MTV had to fill 24 hours with videos (wow, they actually played music all day, go figure), some weird stuff got in the rotation.

Derek - you're talking about "Night Flight" - here's a link to a site with some videos clips from that show: http://www.thescourge.com/nightflight.html
LOVED Nightflight - used to come home baked and watch it until the wee hours...
