I first heard Moloko a bunch of years ago in London, "Sing It Back" playing in the Long Bar of the Sanderson Hotel. Didn't know what it was, but it sounded pretty slamming after several large G&Ts. Fast forward to another trip to London, and I flicked on MTV Europe and saw the most amazing looking video, with this huge lanky blonde woman spastically dancing in a tunnel. Unfortunately, I couldn't watch it until the end, but it made such an impression. Later found out it was Moloko's "Forever More", from their CD "Statues". Was kind of amazed that this band, and the singer, Roisin Murphy, are not better known in the US. The music has a european dance vibe, but unlike a lot of pop dance stuff, Moloko just sounds damned smart. They've got a new greatest hits record out called "Catalogue", which is a pretty great starter. And here's the video for "Forever More", which to me just KILLS.

because there are so many post about so many bands on MOG!!!!!! i always have this latent fear that every time i post about a band, there are like 3000 people out there going "duh, this is nothing new". y'know???
was just surprised to search and see no other posts about them. they're so huge outside the US..

Have you heard RoisÃn Murphy's solo stuff? It's great. Check out the tracks Ramalama and Sinking Feeling from her album Ruby Blue.
