I'm going to say something...and it may shock some of you as shock is typically the response I get when I share this little "factoid" about myself with friends...I hate Dave Matthews. There...it's done. I said it. When you can muster the sense to pick your jaw up off the floor...I'll explain myself and what I like to call the: "DMB etc. Theory".Music for me...is a lifeline. It's important in my life, I am a musician. If you are a musician...then you know. However, when it comes to new music I get into, my theory comes into play. I either have to be seeking a band myself, or have that musical "window" where I'm completely vulnerable to new music. I can remember one of these windows where a friend of mine came very close to turning me on to DMB (the window became shut too soon for me to really catch on...Dave did get one song though. But I'll be darned if I didn't win the war...). I don't know what it is...but if you are outside of this "window" in my musical life...it is completely hopeless as I couldn't be more uninterested in whatever "indie" band you "discovered" on "myspace" the "other day". It's not to say that I won't one day enjoy their music...it's simply that I become very complacent in what I like and don't like. The same is true with movies...but this isn't "MOG: Where movie junkies get their fix" it's a place for music. Hence; blog about music.So...if you are planning on telling me about some band...good luck, I hope the window is open for you. wiggity wack.marci
