F**k Censorship

Posted over 4 years ago
So I use this music service called Ruckus to get a lot of my music, mainly because it's free for college students (yes!). So one of the albums I downloaded is Say Anything's "...Is a Real Boy." Though this is not my typical type of music, I actually really like this album.

Ruckus often has two different versions of an album--clean and explicit. Sometimes it's not clear which is which, so I had the clean version of the album for awhile. I just recently went and downloaded the explicit one, and I was anxious to see what was beneath those bleeped out words, as some weren't totally obvious.

Some were pretty standard four letter words--no surprise there. But then I noticed some stuff which pissed me off. In the line, "As I lay/ In my boxers/ Half stoned," someone felt it necessary to hide the word "stoned." In another line, "You God damn kids/ Had best be gracious with the lunch money you spend," they deleted "God" in the clean version.

Really?! Must I say any more? Who decides these things? Ugh.

  1. Girlcrawl says Rather ridiculous that they bother censoring such material. 'Ugh' is right.
