You're My Favorite Waste of Time

Posted almost 6 years ago
Took overnight to load everything. Requires going with the flow a little - where did I get that live Neil Finn? - but we're game. Have written about this whole thing on my other blog. But which space will become my safe house? Could use one. http://blogs.philly.com/blinq/2006/08/mogcom.html

  5. roscoebear says Hey Roomie! Thanks for the heads up on the article. Nicely done. (Don't judge me for my Keane - it was new.) I hope this little mog home becomes your safe house. I promise to pick up after myself. (Actually I'm a bit of a neat freak - despite my outer appearance.) Just noticed R. Thompson's "Vincent 1952" was on your Top Songs. Hah - there is something to this computer match. I was JUST turned onto this song last week and have been listening to it a lot. Great track. I love storytellers. Elvis Costello and Tweedy are probably my 2 tops. If you saw Costello solo w/ Steve Nieve, you know what I mean. I've also been listening to The Black Angels. If you ever liked The Doors, you'll like these guys. It's a trip back to 1970.

  6. drubi says Now there's a tip. Never heard of them. Will go hunting. Did a version of the post for the Inquirer on Saturday, but trimmed that part about the 'Heads. That Richard Thompson song's got so much going for it, the guitar and the line, "Red hair and black leather - my favorite color scheme." In concert he talks about Vincents and Nortons and I have no idea what he's talking about, except that they sound elegant and expensive and impractical.

  8. dharmachris says Hey, thanks for the Inky article which also led me to the MOG world. Richard Thompson is awesome live-- my wife's cousin turned me on to him a few years back and we've seen him in OC (New Jersey) and the Keswick to excellent effect. That line in Vincent Black Shadow always gets me, that and: "I see angels on Ariels in leather and chrome Swooping down from heaven to carry me home" Cooksferry Queen always makes me think he was trying for a faerie epic set to drum and guitar.
