This weekend was insanely busy...
Friday, Blonde Redhead wowed us with their sultry rock - the most incredible sexual energy between their deliverance, performance and the captured crowd. We headed up to Decatur for Decatur Social Club to work out some of energy we acquired at the show on the dancefloor. I was excited to hear new music (gasp DJ's in Atlanta play NEW MUSIC ??) but was disappointed by the deliverance/mixes of a slew of DJ's (I'm apparently not hip to yet because I didn't recognize the lot of them behind the laptop). The Klaxons were surely the highlight of the evening as well as the rad dance moves from Hacks of Resonator Mag.

Saturday was Free Comic Book Day and the Sidewalk Sale at Criminal Records where I scored an amazing itty bitty Storm Trooper toy among my finds. Haha. Cinco De Mayo expected mexican food and margaritas from El Myr then we walked over to the Star Bar for Robin's Broken Wing benefit.
Ended the evening over at one of the world's best bars to check out Andy Rourke (of The Smiths) throw on some tunes for crowd. He started his set with The Smiths, Amy Winehouse a few in, an interesting mashup of The Smiths and Eminem and a healthy dose of your favorite britrock.
[mp3] The Smiths - Half A Person
[mp3] The Smiths - You Just Haven't Earned It Yet Baby
[mp3] Amy Winehouse - Love Is A Losing Game
By Sunday, I was dead tired but still on the go so Spoon it was! Jack Daniel's sponsored a free show by Spoon with Tenement Halls at Park Tavern on Piedmont Park yesterday evening. I was amused by the wide assortment of local musicians that dropped by and how men seemed to be more passionate about Mr. Britt Daniel than the ladies were (or at least danced more excitedly).
[mp3] Spoon - Paper Tiger
[mp3] Spoon - Lines In The Suit
[mp3] Tenement Halls - Plenty Is Never Enough
[mp3] Tenement Halls - Starlight Nights
Is it wrong for me to love something that makes me so sad?
Referring to "Heartbreaker" by Ryan Adams. His first and best solo album. God I could listen to it on repeat for hours. (And I do.) It's timeless. One of my favorite albums of all-time.

Thank you Caulyne for introducing me to it back in highschool during a trip one summer to Nashville.
:: sigh::

Black Rebel Motorcycle Club ( BRMC ) has a new album coming out! It's called "Baby 81" and RCA 's dropping it on May 1. "Baby 81" is said to be back in the direction of their earlier albums - guitar drenced, dark and multi-layered - in comparison to their last album, "Howl" with it's more stripped down Americana sound. Nike Jago's back in full force. Holy crap if anyone gets this, you must send it over to DaFC immediately!
According to Billboard, "Baby 81" features BRMC 's most epic track to date, "American X," which runs more than 9 minutes. Hayes previously enthused about the songs "All You Do Is Talk" (which utilizes 12 different guitar parts), "Am I Only" and "666 Conducer" (which he described as the most even blend between "Howl" and 2003's "Take Them On, On Your Own").
A spokesperson for the band says BRMC will begin a tour in support of "Baby 81" directly after the album's release.
Haven't gotten my hands on any music yet* but here's what's to come...
