WHERE THE HOKEY POKEY "IS" WHAT IT'S ALL ABOUT

A Concert Conundrum.

Posted over 2 years ago
So I've got a bit of conundrum, mostly because I'm an idiot and don't consult my calendar before buying concert tickets. A few weeks ago, I purchased tix to see BB King on Saturday, August 11 at 5:00pm. He's playing downtown in Baltimore at Pier 6. Today, not thinking, I also purchased tix to see Alison Krauss & Union Station on the same date, at 8:00pm. They're playing in Columbia, MD at Merriweather. So the question is...do I scalp the tickets to one show or the other, or do I try to pull both shows in one night? Some mitigating information: BB King has two openers (Etta James and Al Green)...Pier 6 is roughly 35 minutes away from Merriweather. Some unknowns: how long BB King will play for, and how long his openers will be on for...whether or not AKUS will actually go on at 8:00 sharp.Any advice?

  1. spencert says I would totally go to Alison Krauss. Weird - because I did the same thing for tonight. I scheduled Andrew Bird and Mando Diao. I am going to Andrew Bird instead. It should be a rocking show. I guess I could technically go to both but I just want to be able to enjoy both instead of worrying about who goes on at what time.

  2. drewfonts says You shan't regret Andrew Bird. He's pretty great live. "I guess I could technically go to both but I just want to be able to enjoy both instead of worrying about who goes on at what time." Augh, that's what makes this so hard too!

  3. pinkfish says oh my goodness i can't believe you are debating this. you have the opportunity to see not only bb king but etta james AND al green?!?!?!?! dude, they are all legends and might not have much time left with us. i'd kill to see that line up! allison krauss is of course wonderful but you'll have other opportunities to see her besides she'll probably still be playing after you get done with bb king, just head over after. let us know how the night plays out. lucky guy!

  4. mollifire says BB KING! how can you even ask? is there a high chance of Allison Krauss touring again, yes! BB King just had a stroke yo, and Al Green & Etta James ain't getting any younger either. plus the added bonus of seeing them all with one ticket. if i lived anywhere near you, i would convince you otherwise, so you would sell that BBKing ticket to ME! but i don't so i'm being honest instead - go to BB/Al/Etta or you might regret it... heh, that even rhymed.

  5. drewfonts says You guys are probably right. And I've seen AKUS before, but they're so damn good! But B.B./Al/Etta is so stellar. I probably do owe it to myself to choose that one.
