Song of the Day: Björk - "It's Oh So Quiet"

Posted about 3 years ago

On Post, Björk delivered her take on "Blow a Fuse", originally a 1951 big band Broadway-style tune by Betty Hutton. Retitled "It's Oh So Quiet", she stays quite faithful to the quiet/loud dynamic of Hutton's original.

In the chorus, though, Björk doesn't as much hit the notes as wring their little necks. "It's Oh So Quiet" proves a phenomenal vehicle for her vocal abilities: a contradictory mix of delicacy and bombast.

You always post songs I really fancy!

I am not very fond of Bjork, but this (and Army Of Me) are two songs of hers I thoroughly enjoy.

    Have a good day!

Have always loved her performance of this song.  Also dig the original from Betty Hutton and the recent take from Lucy Woodward.   The music video from Bjork was one the rare highlights that year on the music channels.
