The Sundays' second album, Blind, ramped up comparisons to the Cocteau Twins and The Smiths, thanks in no small part to Harriet Wheeler's airy voice and David Gavurin's delay effect-drenched guitar.

The "goodbye" is ironic, since good intentions to leave the relationship are really the only thing bidding adieu. And the song's gorgeous conclusion is capped with Wheeler's soaring lyric of resignation: "Oh well, just give me an easy life and a peaceful death."
