There are lots of great reviews out there of Gob Iron, the collaboration between Anders Parker of Varnaline and Jay Farrar of Uncle Tupelo and Son Volt, so I won't bore you with an album review. I saw them live in San Francisco, and it was haunting. They kept commenting that the audience was quiet.
