I have worshipped at the feet (not literally, obvoiusly) of Kristin Hersh since I was a spotty 16-year old. She came to the attention of me and a select few of my spotty 16-year old friends at the same time as The Pixies. Both bands were sort of lumped together at the time, both based in Boston and both signed to 4AD, which is still the greatest, coolest record label on the planet. As much as I loved The Pixies, it was Kristin and Throwing Muses that really grabbed my heart and my head. That hasn't changed. I've followed her through every period of her career, from the Muses' intelligent, cryptic guitar "pop", through her gentler, more personal acoustic solo stuff and into the new, improved, LOUDER phase with 50 Foot Wave. This is a woman who's pushing 40 with 4 (I think) kids and she can still show the kids how to do it. That makes her the second sexiest woman on the planet (after the Mrs, obviously)Clara Bow is a fantastic slice of 21st Century punk/pop. Listen. Try not to dance too hard, you may sprain an ankle.
