yes i was a teenage hardcore addict. young dumb and full of cum. couldnt get laid, loved to skate, and just couldnt get my head around staying straight....err edge that is. finally got around to seeing american hardcore last night. the glaring omissions have been covered ad nauseum plenty of times so i wont rehash. you know the only lasting impression was fuck if mike watt spends alotta time riding around in a van. looks like the footage was filmed during the shooting of the awesome minutemen doc we jam econo. in fact if you havent seen american hardcore skip and watch we jam econo instead. the minutemen for those who never gave them a chance were the closest hardcore kids could get to listen to anything close to prog, jazz or acid without being called a fag or hippie. i LOVE the minutemen. later, don

I gotta say DonD I saw it a few weeks ago and was really not impressed. I was a skater kid too, still have my first Powell Peralta Blue Dragon board but at the time there was no scene like that on Long Island where i grew up so I didn't know any better. I was first exposed to that stuff in college and to tell you the truth I never really liked it then either. I feel it was more about the scene than it was about music. When the Ramones started out they couldn't play worth a shit but they at least had a destination in mind. The majority of these bands just oozed with teenaged boy testosterone and they even say at one point it seemed like one day it just ended. Well it did because all those kids grew up. All genres of music have been seeing resurgences except for that style of hardcore. A lot of good music eventually came from it, many guys became better musicians but I think the scene itself left a far greater mark then the music that came out of it ever did.
Sorry, I guess I've been waiting to say that for awhile now.
