I happened to catch this last night on IFC channel. What a gem! I never knew it existed. Man, some of those free jams with everybody on the train....And The Dead sounded tight on stage! It was cool to see Janis having a good time too. Legends.Wish I could've been there.....

  1. juuulia says I watched it too. Love that movie. Janis Joplin has such a captivating stage presence. Excellent performances by The Band as well.

  2. jason1969 says Awesome movie indeed. If you get a chance to see it on DVD it has a bunch of extra songs that didn't make it in the movie, including a great, funky-weird version of "Easy Wind" from The Dead.

  3. dmcd says I loved the part with Rick Danko, Janis, Jerry and Bobby Weir all partying, and jamming. Danko was cracking up, I'd say he was trippin'. In addition to seeing one Dead show in '92, I am fortunate to have seen Danko on stage, in 1990 or so playing with Ringo and his All Starr Band, Atlantic City, NJ. Danko was a great singer.
