WHERE JIMI JANIS AND JIM WOULD HAVE BLOGGED

Wow. So, RJD2 keeps getting better. With this album, The Third Hand, he really drifted away from his normal sample driven music. Aside from that, HE SUNG TOO! Damn I love his voice. Some people didn't, but I definitely thought it was quite nice (Kind of Kenna-esque). Moving right along now. . .

I first saw this album was coming out while I was grounded and reading REMIX. They went into his studio and all I saw was vintage gear, moogs, other vintage keyboards, and organs. I automatically could tell he drifted away from his strict 100% MPC sample style, which is dope if you admire change and are always open to it. I personally love format changes and this album was just what I was looking for. I knew their would be lots of keyboards and such from the pictures of his studio, and he really used them creatively and well.

Secondly, His voice. . . All I can say is damn. He did really great harmonies and I never heard his voice before (always thought he would stick to production) so I was surprised when I started enjoying it. It sounds a lot like Kenna (who im a big fan of), but it is also very very unique. I was extremely satisfied with his vocal ability and thing it complemented the music and concept of the album well.

He definitely used his third hand for this one (pun intended). This is definitely like nothing RJD2 has put out in his past. Different motivation, different concepts, different album! Good shit!
