The Yeah Yeah Yeahs have always been very "present" on their website because of regular, personal updates and ever-growing galleries of amazing photos by Nick Z. Earlier this year, someone remodeled the entire site, with the promise of making it more fun for fans to use. It's been 2 months since the new design went up and the trio have been publishing new content like mad these last 2 weeks! They added new tunes - classic YYYs hits remixed by Nick and a collab between Karen and Squeak - new photo galleries - photos from last year's tour and festivals by fans, pros and of course, Nick - and, what might be a blogosphere premiere - a lengthy blog post about drums by Brian Chase. Your 3 favorite art school punks are filling the site with juicy backstage content that every fan will delight in!
It's just too bad that the site's background design is sooooo dull. YeahYeahYeahs.com has had many different designs over the years, but each stood out on the web for its unique and endearing concepts. I can't find a single bunny rabbit anywhere on this new design. Not one! It's hard to believe this is the official YYY site without the bunnies, but I suppose that could be added later. (Does anyone remember when the bunny would run away from your cursor whenever you moved it on the page? That was part of the best design ever!)
They each have their own blog on the site now, so maybe we will hear more from each of them individually:
Karen's YYY blog Brian's YYY blog Nick's YYY blog
Be sure to check out Brian's extensive post about drums and drumming...
There are new photo albums up in the gallery:
And audio streams of some tunes, remixes you may not have heard yet:
"Hello Tomorrow" - Karen O & Squeak E. Clean Tick, Tick, Boom (Post Colonization Mix by Nick Zinner) - The Hives Turn Into (Nick Zinner Remix) - Yeah Yeah Yeahs
One thing that the site doesn't have, is the wicked music video directed by Karen O and Barney Clay (known collectively as Kids with Canes) for Tiny Masters Of Today:
Tiny Masters Of Today - "Hologram World"
From the video description : Working together as "Kids with Canes" the directing team of Karen O and Barney Clay have produced "Hologram World", a Zombie-filled, Kung Fu-tastic, Splatter Spectacular of epic proportions! The video features a stellar cast of adults including Karen, Nick, and Brian from Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Mike D from the Beastie Boys, Gibby Haynes (Butthole Surfers), Russell Simins (JSBX) and Sam James (The Mooney Suzuki) in a trans-generational zombie battle with the diminutive sibling rockers and a veritable army of budding juvenile delinquents
So, go get your Yeah Yeah YEAH! fix!
