The Maricopa County Sheriff's Office sent deputies to the Arizona home of DMX to investigate a tip that he had a team of dogs being treated inhumanely. Lawyers and spokespersons for the rapper stated that DMX had not been to this home in two months, and had hired a caretaker to care for the property and the dogs. The dogs are said to be "practically his family" and that he was disturbed to find out that they were not being properly cared for.
After contacting one of DMX's lawyers a week prior, the deputies returned to raid the home. The Sheriff's Office seized several pitbulls who were tied up and had not been given food or water in some time. Deputies also found a variety of firearms that they are looking into the permits of.
