Grime Explosion From UK To You

Posted almost 5 years ago
The news about what's happening in the grime and dubstep music scene is suddenly exploding all over the music news sites this week! So many talented producers and mc's are comin out with new albums, doing live performances and radio shows, that i actually just can't keep up!The best resource for all of it in one place, with commentary, background, and links is Hearing Test's review of the news. Here's some of the highlights : Today Pitchfork published their monthly feature, The Month In: Grime/Dubstep which, this month, exposes grime’s wide reaching influence from UK to NYC to SF. Roll Deep announced yesterday that they will be releasing their Rules & Regulations Vol. 1 on their own label, Roll Deep Recordings. That story is here.BBC 1xtra had Skepta and his mum on the DJ Target show on sunday for UK’s Mother’s Day. We even got to hear him perform his new song, “Sweet Mother”, live on air! That show is here.On April 21, Roll Deep will be in the studio performing live on Tim Westwood’s show. That link is here.

  1. leamas says Seen. Some intersting links, thx. Looking forward to the new Roll Deep stuff, specially now they're out of the major label game. Also worth checking "dissensus":http://www.dissensus.com for grime and dubstep news. re Sonar: Good to see that Sonar are repping Dubstep this year too, tho shame there's no Shackleton or Appleblim (Skull Disco) up there. Skream's not my favourite, would have gone for Mystikz if I had to choose from one of the big names. Other than that, (+ the beasties of course), not that inspired by the line-up, though it's always the ones you haven't heard of who make it worthwhile... and Clark is great, I do agree with you there.
