Vetiver Releases 1st 12" Single, New Album On The Way

Posted about 4 years ago
San Francisco's Vetiver will release their first 12" single, "Been So Long" with "You May Be Blue" on the B-side. According to a press release, both tracks have been extensively remixed from the versions appearing on Vetiver's last full length album (To Find Me Gone). Andy Cabic and producer Thom Monohan created the remixes which are said to resonate with Andy's previous role in Tussle. Tussle were an SF favorite and are described as "bass-heavy, instrumental, hypnotic groove rock that has hints of techno, dub, hip-hop and reggae, creating their songs from improvised jams." The press release also states that this will be Vetiver's first release on Gnomonsong (the label helmed by Cabic and Devendra Banhart) and not the album of covers that was previously reported as their first release on this label. I guess this means that the single will precede the album release. In May, Vetiver will release their third full length CD, Thing Of The Past Remembered, which the PR describes as:
an album of some of his favorite songs by other writers, an eclectic selection including works by Hawkwind, Bobby Charles, Biff Rose and the totally unknown Kathy Hiedeman among others. It was recorded at The Hangar, Sacramento & Melva, Los Angeles, produced by Thom Monahan & Andy Cabic.
That sounds like the album of covers that I reported about last year. That's all the info I have about it today, so scope the previous report for a few more details:http://mog.com/dj_ivi/blog_post/134369
