Matmos Plays A Few East Coast Shows This Month
-
Artist:
Matmos haven't played together as much since transferring to the East Coast; focusing instead on side projects (like Soft Pink Truth). But today I found a video of a Matmos performance in B-more, MD February 9th and 2 shows in NYC at the end of February. Their B-more set was minimal and ambient but it looks like it was a stimulating environment that they created:The electronic musicians relocated to B-more from San Fran, so I suppose the east coast will be treated to the special kind of one-off shows that we have become so spoiled with over the years. I sure do miss them!
Matmos also have 2 shows in one day later this month in NYC. They will play at 8pm and again at 10pm Saturday, February 23rd at The Stone in NYC. According to a report on Brooklyn Vegan:
Matmos also have 2 shows in one day later this month in NYC. They will play at 8pm and again at 10pm Saturday, February 23rd at The Stone in NYC. According to a report on Brooklyn Vegan:Dr. Drew Daniels (laptop, objects) Martin Schmidt (synth, objects)Matmos are a duo who recently relocated from San Francisco to Baltimore. Their work is all over the place: musique concrete, pop music, rhythmic patterns, free improv, video, sound, actions. For this concert they will present their “cover” of “The Backyard”, the final act of the Robert Ashley tele-opera “Perfect Lives{, and some newer pieces that focus on pure electronic music. Expect some improvisation and some guest shenanigans.
