Flipper Is Back With Krist Novoselic On New Album + Touring

Posted about 4 years ago
San Francisco's old-school punks, Flipper, have been quietly getting their thrash back into full working order and have recorded a brand new album! I can't believe it! It's been a full 15 years since their last studio album! They haven't announced a name for the LP yet, but drummer Steve DePace confirmed that it contains 10 songs of what might be their best work ever. According to a report on Billboard:
"I think that we're 99% there, if not done," drummer Steve DePace tells Billboard.com of a new, as-yet-untitled Flipper album. "We've got 10 songs, and we just did another round of mixing. The album sounds great -- I think it's some of our best work ever. That also is an indicator for more future songs to come. We know we can write songs with Krist now that sound just like Flipper."
PNW music fans will recognize that name. DePace is referring to Krist Novoselic, the tall lanky bassist who rose to fame as one-third of Nirvana. Krist has been with Flipper since their previous bassist left in 2006. Krist stepped up in time to play the Thurston Moore-curated ATP party in London, December 2006. Adding Krist to the lineup seems to have been a boon to their creativity: in August '07, they set up a recording studio at Novoselic's place in Washington state and grabbed Jack Endino to produce. In addition to the new album, Flipper plans to be rehearsing in the early Spring, then tour through Summer. A new DVD of vintage Flipper performances will be released February 19th, titled "Flipper Live: Target Video 1980-81" and their are also plans to reissue their entire back catalog of music.Billboard reporthttp://www.myspace.com/flipperI did try to find a video of Flipper with Krist playing bass. Their music is so heavy, that not a single youTube video has decent audio. So, I guess it will really be worth the wait once they start puttin out some proper vids!
